Answers on privacy, ownership, exports and how reviews work.
What does LyricMentor do?
LyricMentor reviews a lyric you have written. You choose what to look at, such as clarity, imagery, repetition or structure, and you get observations, highlighted passages, questions about your choices and a revision checklist. You decide what to change.
Does LyricMentor use AI?
Yes, to analyse your draft. LyricMentor is AI-assisted, not AI-generated: the AI reads what you have written and gives feedback, and every word of the lyric stays yours. It does not write, complete or rewrite lyrics.
Does LyricMentor write lyrics?
No. LyricMentor never writes, completes, or rewrites lyrics. It analyses the lyric you submit and gives you observations, questions and craft notes about your own words.
Can it finish my unfinished lyric?
No. If you paste an unfinished lyric, LyricMentor will review what is there and ask questions about where it might go, but it will not continue or complete it. The next line is always yours to write.
Can it suggest alternative lines?
No. LyricMentor does not offer alternative lines, replacement words, rhymes or titles. It analyses your submitted draft and points out passages worth a second look, so you can decide what to change in your own words.
Who owns the lyric I submit?
You do. LyricMentor claims no ownership of anything you submit and does not publish or share it. It only analyses your words to produce your review.
Is my draft private?
Yes. A basic review needs no account, and LyricMentor does not save your draft. Your text is sent to the review engine to produce your feedback and is not kept. If you ask for the feedback to be emailed to you, the finished review is held for up to an hour so it can be sent, then discarded. We keep a simple usage log (date, tool, lenses chosen, word count and outcome) that contains none of your text.
Do you train AI models on my writing?
No. LyricMentor does not use submitted lyrics to train models, and it will not do so unless you give explicit, informed consent. The privacy policy explains exactly what is sent to the AI provider.
Can I export the feedback?
Yes. You can copy a review to your clipboard, download it as a .txt file, print it or save it as a PDF from your browser, or email it to yourself. The Draft Comparison report can be exported the same way.
Is LyricMentor part of SongwriterLink?
No. LyricMentor is a standalone tool within the Mayyk family of creative websites, which also includes SongwriterLink, Verse-Chorus and Copyright Solved. It is not a membership platform, and it does not replicate SongwriterLink’s Vault, catalogue, publishing or singer-search features.
Can I use it alongside SongwriterLink’s Vault?
Yes. Many writers keep their drafts in the Vault and paste a draft into LyricMentor for a review when they want a second look. LyricMentor analyses the text you give it and never writes or changes lyrics.
What kinds of writing does it support?
Song lyrics of any genre, in English, up to around 5,000 words. It can also be useful for poems and spoken-word pieces, because the review lenses (clarity, imagery, repetition, structure, perspective, emotional arc and clichés) apply to any verse-based writing.
Is LyricMentor free?
Yes. LyricMentor is in free beta, and every core review tool is free while the beta runs. There is no billing and no card required, and a free tier will stay after the beta.
